A Natural, Candid Aesthetic Photographer, Joy Wai

During Joy's formative years, she pursued her dreams by studying digital media and photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. While at ICP, she witnessed the powerful transformation of film photography and learned the importance of capturing an individual's essence, creating narrative images that tell a compelling story, and assisting in ongoing seminar courses for other like-minded enthusiasts. After honing her craft with a specific focus on producing digital images for private clients, she became a freelance photographer, eventually opening her own modest yet notably impressive photography studio in Manhattan. It wasn't long before she won several awards for her work, achieved through her tireless energy for the fine arts, impressive creation, and personal talent for managing art exhibitions. 

In 2008, Joy published her first book, "Faces and Stages," which takes the viewer on her roughly two-year photojournalistic journey into China. Currently, she is focused on the theme of Timeless Portraiture for local communities, as well as her own fine art photography projects to discover herself and the world around her. Joy's recent book/exhibition project subtly brings more inspiration to positively influence those who are on their own healing journeys, sharing a personal dialogue about what the art of photography is, how images can voice certain truths, their magical abilities to speak thousands of words, and why this art form still leads a new generation in communication today.
