My U-Turn to Sesame Street: Works of Imprinted Embodiment
This photography book traces my return to New York City after years of living in different cities. Walking through familiar streets with new eyes, I found myself falling in love with New York all over again. More importantly, this journey marked the beginning of a quiet return to myself. Through reconnection and reflection, I rediscovered a sense of home, belonging, and purpose that I once thought had faded away.
My U-Turn to Sesame Street explores how our identities are continually shaped by experience, memory, and the energy we carry throughout life. Through a selection of my new works, this project invites viewers to reconnect with their inner child, embrace the possibility of renewal, and uncover a deeper sense of home within themselves.

Joy’s artistic style is profoundly influenced by the nature of existence, a theme she explored extensively through her studies and practices in digital media at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. The Mirror of Life is an adventure driven by human imagination. The world we see is a product of our own creation, where each of us plays a role in shaping our realities. Through carefully selected images from various projects and events, each originating from different moments in time, Joy seeks to express this concept. The underlying theme, though not explicitly stated, revolves around the freedom to explore our identities through reflections, with or without mirrors.
Do we see a flawless version of ourselves when we gaze into a mirror? Should we trust the reflections we see? Can we create ideal human beings through these reflections? These questions invite a reflecting pause, encouraging deeper contemplation and self-exploration. In this context, our inner voice represents our deepest wisdom, quietly yet powerfully guiding us to discover who we truly are.
The book project My Sweet Little World was created in 2020
My Sweet Little World is a photographer’s journal divided into four sections that guide viewers on a soulful journey through life’s unique experiences. Joy’s profound love for the natural world and its unfiltered beauty, which she captures through her lens, are the core values of this project. As a professional photographer, she has gained insights from every small experience and creative process, transforming her passion into meaningful artistic expression.
