Joy’s photographic journey began at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, where she loved, studied and discovered that photography is about capturing the essence of people, memories, emotions, and stories. Through training and practice during the transition from film to digital, Joy developed a strong technical foundation and a unique sensibility that allows her work to speak both honesty and emotional depth.

While honing her skills, Joy started her freelance career and opened a studio in Manhattan. Over time, the workspace grew into a welcoming creative hub—hosting exhibitions, earning recognition, and celebrating art and life without limitations.

Her first book, Faces and Stages (2008), was created and published following a memorable two-year journey across China; documenting cultural traditions, landscapes, people and unveiling modern life experiences. This project marked the beginning of her dedication to visual storytelling.

Today, Timeless Portraiture is Joy’s primary focus, as she creates expressive images that transcend cultures and generations. Her newly published book, Sahasrara to Sahara (2025), breaks the silence and invites viewers to pause, reflect, and see beyond the visible—reminding us that photography is not merely a way of seeing, but a way of listening.
